Reddit Marketing for Content Creators

By

Content creators face a challenge: building an audience without annoying people. Reddit can help, if you approach it right.

Lead with value, not your content

The biggest mistake content creators make on Reddit is posting links to their content immediately. Nobody clicks those. Nobody trusts them.

Instead, answer questions and help people. Share your expertise freely. When someone asks a question you have content about, mention it. But lead with the answer, not the link.

Build an audience by being interesting

People subscribe to creators they find interesting. On Reddit, interesting means having opinions. Share your takes on industry news. Disagree with popular views when you genuinely disagree. Don't be contrarian for the sake of it, but don't be afraid to have a point of view.

The content you create becomes more interesting when you have a presence in discussions. Someone who sees you commenting thoughtfully is more likely to click your content than a stranger's link.

Share your work in context

When you do share your content, make it part of a conversation. Don't just dump a link. Say what the content is about, why you made it, and what someone will get from it. Then let them decide.

This works better than any "check out my latest video" post ever will.
