The Ultimate Reddit Marketing Checklist
By Vibeddit Team
I ruined two posts and almost got banned from a subreddit before I started using a checklist. Now I run through it before every post and comment. It's saved me more times than I can count.
Before you create your account
Have you picked a username that sounds like a person? Not CompanyName_Official. Pick something you wouldn't be embarrassed to be known by. Have you completed your profile with a real bio? Not marketing speak. Something that tells people what you care about.
Before your first post
Have you read the subreddit rules? All of them. Have you looked at what gets upvoted there? At least five posts. Have you checked whether anyone asked your question in the last month? Duplicate questions get ignored.
Have you made your post specific? "Tips for marketing" is too broad. "How we got our first 100 customers from Reddit" is specific. Have you included a personal experience? Posts with stories do better.
Before you comment
Have you read the entire thread first? Don't respond to the headline. Have you added something new to the conversation? Repeating what others said gets ignored. Have you been specific? Generic agreement doesn't help anyone.
Have you checked your tone? Sarcasm doesn't read well in text. Have you included a link only if it's genuinely relevant? Links without context look like spam.
Before you mention your product
Have you helped without asking for anything first? At least three comments without mentioning your product. Does your comment stand alone as useful without the link? If someone ignores your link, is there still value? Is this the right community? Some subreddits hate self-promotion.
After you post
Did you check back within 30 minutes? The algorithm notices early engagement. Did you respond to every comment? Even the critical ones. Did you thank people for their input? That's basic courtesy.
Did you track your link with UTM parameters? If not, you won't know where traffic came from. Did you save the post URL to check later? You'll want to follow up.
